It’s pointless to look for it on the high street, Studio Pilates, like many hidden gems of Milan, is located in a secluded place, protected by the courtyard of a historic building.
After passing through the building entrance, leaving behind the street noise and the frenetic pace of the city, you first pass through a larger courtyard. This courtyard takes you to a smaller one where you can leave your bike, abandon your thoughts and leave all stress behind under a beautiful pergola before entering the center.
Inside the center, we are welcomed by bright and modern, pure materials dominated by wood and glass. The gym area, about a hundred square meters wide, is well divided by the equipment, the active heart of the Pilates method: 4 Cadillacs, 4 chairs, 4 reformers, and 2 barrels.
When the gym is fully booked, a maximum of 8 people can work out there, followed – according to the courses chosen – by as many as 4 teachers!
On the ground floor, the reception welcomes students to schedule appointments and lessons. On the lower floor, there is a changing room area, equipped with lockers, showers, and bathrooms.
Today many gyms claim to offer Pilates: for some, all it takes is placing a couple of machines and two fit balls in a corner. In reality, there are very few centers in Milan that can offer their students the entire equipment developed by Joseph Pilates: Cadillac, reformer, chair, and barrel.
Here’s where Claudia and Stefano have excelled and made the right decisions: It’s essential to be able to organize each lesson, both individually and in a group, to take full advantage of the different equipment and build a truly effective personalized workout program.
