The first Pilates lesson

All kinds of people enter our studio to take our courses. Some have never done any physical activity. Some want to change their discipline and some want to develop further skills already acquired using the Pilates method: the reasons may vary, but everyone will have a first individual meeting.

It is not a typical “trial lesson”: it’s much more. It is a fundamental meeting, for the relationship that will be established between the teacher and his student. This lesson is to get to know each other, to understand – through exercises, breathing, movement – what is the body image that the student currently has and what needs does his body express.

Should your posture be rebalanced? Should your muscles be stretched or toned? Do you have parts that have suffered trauma or that cause reoccurring pain? These and other questions will be answered by this first assessment, which will also help the student to decide whether Pilates is for them or not.

Teacher-student relationship

Before even choosing the type of course to attend, it is necessary to develop a training program that best suits each individual student.

This is why, after the evaluation, some individual lessons are recommended that will help lay down the work and develop mutual knowledge.

It is important that empathy between teacher and student is born, only in this way the teacher will be able to understand how far he can go with a person who wants to recover a better physical shape, or what training can give a young person a better self-awareness, or how it can motivate a student who perhaps has little confidence in physical activity.

Leaving a lesson with a renewed energy and with a beautiful smile is the result that teachers look for with their students, putting all their professionalism, their skill, and their empathy into it.

The goals of the training

Getting an optimal physical shape, improving posture, achieving awareness in how you’re breathing. In short, finding balanced psycho-physical well-being – these are the objectives of a Pilates course.

At the end of the individual lessons, our teachers will advise the student on what they believe to be the most suitable treatment, both in terms of frequency and type of lesson.
